Anatomy of one click
Eleven slots, eleven real species in every roll
Nothing is invented. Each slot borrows a described feature from a different animal in the library, and the popup keeps that animal's name next to it — this is The Frost Fjord Wanderer, unpacked.

Install the Chrome extension in three steps
- 01
Open the store listing
The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store under Tools.
- 02
Click Add to Chrome
There is no permission dialog to read — it asks for nothing, so Chrome installs it straight away.
- 03
Pin it to the toolbar
Chrome hides new extensions behind the puzzle-piece icon. Pin this one and the creature button sits beside your address bar for good.
Prefer to try before installing? The popup at the top of this page is the real thing — open any roll in the full generator to keep working on it.
Privacy
The permissions this extension asks for: none
Most extensions open with a dialog asking to read and change your data on every site you visit. This one has nothing to ask: the manifest declares no permissions, no host permissions and no background script.
The whole animal library is a JSON file inside the 115 KB package, so the popup never makes a network request — and cannot, in principle, see a page you are on.
Written up in full in the privacy policy, which covers the extension and the website separately.

Where to work
Toolbar popup or the full random animal generator
They are the same generator. The popup is built for the thirty seconds before you start drawing; the site is where a creature becomes finished work.
In the toolbar
- One click, one finished creature — no page load.
- Eleven traits, each labelled with the animal it came from.
- Copy the AI art prompt in one more click.
- Works offline, asks for nothing, keeps nothing.
- Hands the creature to the website when you want more.
On the site
- Lock the parts you like and reroll only the rest.
- Five art styles and a weirdness dial on the prompt.
- The real reference photo behind every part, for drawing from.
- Render the creature as an image — one free every day, more on Pro.
- Sign in and the ones you keep land in your collection.
Questions
Chrome extension FAQ
What does the Random Animal Generator Chrome extension do?
It puts a one-click creature roll in your browser toolbar. Every click mixes eleven body parts from different real animals into one imaginary creature, names it, and writes an AI art prompt you can paste straight into an image generator. Nothing opens, nothing loads — the popup is already finished when it appears.
What permissions does the extension request?
None. The manifest declares no permissions and no host permissions, so Chrome's install dialog has nothing to list. There is no background script and the popup makes no network requests, which means it cannot read the pages you visit even in principle.
Does it work offline?
Yes. All 249 species travel inside the extension as a JSON file, so rolling, naming and prompt-building all happen locally. A plane, a train or a dead Wi-Fi router changes nothing. The only action that needs a connection is the link that opens your creature on the website.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. The extension never asks who you are and has no sign-in of its own. An account only matters on the website, where it saves the creatures you want to keep and raises your daily AI image allowance.
How is the extension different from the website?
The extension is the fast lane: roll, read the traits, copy the prompt. The website is the workshop — you can lock the parts you like and reroll the rest, switch art style, see the real reference photo behind each part, render the creature as an AI image and save your collection.
Can I install it on Edge, Brave or another Chromium browser?
Yes. Any Chromium-based browser that can install from the Chrome Web Store can install this one, because it uses only the standard Manifest V3 popup API and no browser-specific features. The listing itself lives on the Chrome Web Store.
Is the extension free?
Yes, and there is nothing to buy inside it. The website is free too; the only paid thing on the site is a Pro plan for people who want more AI image renders per day than the free allowance.
